Liposuction – Post Treatment Tips For Speedy Recovery

Types Of Fat Reduction Surgeries

Plastic surgeries are performed by experts for aesthetic improvements. They reshape the nose, resize the breast, and remove excess fat. The liposuction doctor focuses on fat reduction and elimination treatments only. He examines the patient at a clinic and determines the quantity and quality of undesired fat. A surgical method is picked from different options for removing the fat cells. The lipocytes are generally removed from the face, neck, shoulders, limbs, thighs, waist, and abdomen.

● In Liposuction surgery, the fatty areas of the patient’s body are marked. Injections are given here to make the fat loose and movable.

● A cannula or thin tube is inserted after making an excision or cut. Vacuum is used to suck out the liquefied fat cells from the body.

● The patient’s vital statistics are monitored throughout the operation. After fat removal, Stitches are sewn or stapled to close the cuts.

● Drugs are injected before, during, and after the procedure. These medicines include painkillers, sterile saline, local and general anaesthesia.

● Liposuction is considered as a body contouring procedure. It is carried out on thighs, breasts, abdomen, chin, upper arm, knee, etc.,

● The basic techniques are known as dry, wet, and super-wet liposuction. In the dry method, no fluid is injected, while in the other two increasing amounts are added.

● In the super-wet technique, Amount of liquid is equal to the amount of removed fat. In a tumescent method, The liquid is twice or thrice this amount ( anaesthesia is also given).

● High-frequency sound waves treat the fat areas in the ultrasound technique. In power-assisted liposuction (PAL) the fat cells are made loose by a vibrating tip.

● In all the methods, Cannula are used to suck out the undesired fat cells. Skin burns are possible in the ultrasound method, but not in PAL.

● Laser lipolysis uses a focused beam of light to break fat. There is no bleeding and the loose fat is either removed or left like that(body naturally drains it out later).

● High-volume treatments involve up to 5000 ml or 10 pounds of fat. This technique is rare and risky, and patients have to stay overnight in the hospital.

Post-Operative Care

Different types of liposuction have their pros and cons. These benefits and negative effects extend to costs, risks, pain, bleeding, recuperation period, etc.,

1. Modern liposuction surgeries are not very dangerous to the body. Patients have to remain cheerful, confident and respond to the treatment.

2. After surgery, Be proactive and follow all the doctor’s guidelines. Unless the surgeon advises, Do not stay in bed or lead a sedentary lifestyle.

3. Consume pro-biotic, protein-rich foods frequently, but in small quantities. Reduce salt and sugar intake, but stay away from energy/sports drinks.

4. Walking is a good exercise provided there is no fatigue or vertigo. Drink water and low-calorie liquids(avoid aerated, carbonated ones).

5. Diluted fruit juices and flavoured water is also good for hydration. Watermelons, grapefruit, strawberries, celery, etc., are ideal.

6. Move, rotate, and stretch the body as and when it is comfortable. Be aware of pain and discomfort so that sufficient rest can be taken.

7. Other helpful tips include self-massages, scar and itching treatments. Consult the surgeon in case of any serious problem or after effect.
