Body and chassis

The developers of Land Rover abandoned the chassis with a step-type frame for this model, replacing it with an all-aluminum chassis with a load-bearing body. Its design, borrowed from the Jaguar XJ, is 39% lighter (180 kg less) than the one it replaced.

In order to reduce weight, the developers used aluminum for doors and side collision protection bars, protection elements for composite reinforced middle racks, as well as subframes and for the final transmission mechanism. Moreover, the entire side surface of the car uses a solid aluminum panel.

Power plant

The top-of-the-line Supercharged model has retained its engine, which means we have the same 5.0L turbocharged V8 unit. As before, the direct fuel injection engine delivers 510 hp between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm, with a maximum torque of 625 Nm between 2,500 and 5,500 rpm.

The previous-generation Range Rover used an eight-speed ZF gearbox, but the turbocharged engine, which did not receive the same, has to make do with a six-speed ZF automatic. Now the 8HP7 gearbox has begun to be used in a turbocharged engine power plant.

The gearshift time of this gearbox takes 2000 ms, and it allows the driver to perform numerous speed changes downwards through the manual gearshift keys located on the steering wheel.

Ground clearance

This model received a completely new aluminum suspension design: the front axle uses a two–lever design, and the rear uses a multi-link scheme. Other features of the new design include an impressive distance from the tire tread to the wheel arch.: 260 mm in front and 310 mm in the rear.

All other suspension elements, including self-adjusting shock absorbers and interconnected pneumatic springs, are taken from the previous model, but slightly modified.

The developers of Land Rover have equipped the car with an electric power steering system (EPAS), as in the case of the Iwok. Manufacturers claim that replacing the hydraulic system alone saves 3% in terms of CO2 emissions.

Safety

The overall crash test rating for this model looks great: five stars, 91% for the protection of an adult driver or passenger, 84% for the protection of a child, 63% for the protection of a pedestrian and 86% for additional protection. Unfortunately, the numbers don't show everything, and the story is pretty confusing.

While it was about testing the car for frontal and side impact, the Range Rover performed well. The car has shown that it can offer "good" protection (highest rating) for all body parts of the driver and passenger. The only exception is the driver's torso, which received a "satisfactory" rating for protection during a frontal impact. Enjoy premium online casino gaming right from your home with Khelo24bet.
